Austin Meadows Cut From Spring Training Roster
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfield prospect Austin Meadows has been reassigned to minor-league camp, the team announced on Monday. Meadows, the No. 2 prospect in the organization, hit well in 18 spring plate appearances (.412/.444/.824), but was a long shot to make the Opening Day roster, especially after the Pirates traded for Corey Dickerson to take over in left field. More time in Triple-A should benefit Meadows, who struggled at the level last season. After a quick ascension through the minors, he hit only .261/.323/.384 in 2017 and played in only 81 games due to injuries. The former first-round draft pick is still only 22 years old, though, and his power potential and speed make him a hold in dynasty leagues.
