Austin Meadows Departs Early Thursday With Oblique Injury
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows left Game 1 of Thursday’s doubleheader against Baltimore due to a sore left oblique. Manuel Margot took over in left field in Meadows’ stead, with the former All-Star drawing a walk in his lone plate appearance before departing. Entering Thursday, Meadows had been struggling to find his form at the dish, with his OPS more than 250 points below where it sat last season. Adding in something as finicky as an oblique injury likely means that Meadows faces a difficult path to returning to the starting nine soon, which would zap him of fantasy intrigue when factoring in his struggles at the dish.
