2 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Austin Meadows (Achilles) will begin his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday. Meadows took part in agility drills as part of a full on-field workout on Tuesday, and he's nearing a return to the major league roster, barring a setback on his rehab assignment. The 27-year-old has struggled to stay healthy in 2022, first dealing with vertigo and then landing on the injured list on July 17 after he tested positive for COVID-19. Then he suffered strains to his left and right Achilles' tendons. There's a chance Meadows could return to the Tigers lineup by this weekend if he looks good. He is hitting .250 (32-for-128) with no homers and 11 RBI in 36 big-league games this year, and he won't be guaranteed an everyday role in the outfield when he's activated.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
