2 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals activated catcher Austin Romine from the restricted list on Thursday. The Cardinals also optioned outfielder Conner Capel, catcher Ivan Herrera and second baseman Cory Spangenberg to Triple-A Memphis. Romine was unavailable to play in a two-game series in Toronto this week against the Blue Jays because he's unvaccinated. With Yadier Molina (knee) still on the injured list while rehabbing in the minor leagues, Romine will return to serve as Andrew Knizner's backup for a weekend series against the Washington Nationals, which starts on Friday. In nine games for St. Louis, Romine is 3-for-22 with two walks and seven strikeouts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
