Austin Romine Battling A Knee Sprain
4 years agoChicago Cubs catcher Austin Romine (knee) figures to be the club's backup catcher during the regular season, although when he'll be cleared to do so isn't apparent. Manager David Ross stated Friday that Romine is "day-to-day" with a sprained right knee and that there isn't a timetable for when he is expected back. Through three Cactus League games, Romine has gone 3-for-9, including bopping a home run. With Willson Contreras a near everyday option behind the dish for the Cubs, Romine will hold little fantasy intrigue during 2021, aside from the rare punt play when he draws a start. Check back for updates on his status as Chicago makes them available over the coming weeks.
