Austin Slater Lands On IL, Battling Groin Strain
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Austin Slater has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left groin prior to Saturday's contest against Arizona. Slater is in the midst of a breakout campaign which sees him tied for the Major League lead with six stolen bases, all while delivering a 1.111 OPS across his first 19 contests. He has annihilated left-handed pitching this season to the tune of a .450/.577/.950 slash line, with his absence creating a chasm for the Giants when facing southpaws. Steven Duggar has been recalled from the club’s alternate training site to take Slater’s place on the roster. Upon his activation, Slater will continue to have deep season-long value.
