7 years agoWashington Nationals starter and pitching prospect Austin Voth has been called up as the team's 26th man for the second Wednesday games against the Yankees in D.C. Tuesday's contest was suspended and will be completed Wednesday if the rain lets ups. The regular night game will be played a few hours later, which is why the teams are allowed a 26th man. Voth will be used as bullpen depth, though he's been mainly used as a starter in Triple-A. In 25 2/3 innings, he's allowed 14 earned runs, four home runs and eight walks while striking out 33. He was called up briefly earlier in the season but wasn't used. He was also part of a combined seven-inning no-hitter in April. There don't seem to be any openings in the rotation at the moment with fifth starter Jeremy Hellickson doing so well. But Voth will likely be the first one up and is a virtual lock for next year's rotation. He's worth monitoring and is a decent dynasty pickup.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
