Avisail Garcia Hits 471-Foot Homer
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Avisail Garcia hit his seventh home run of the year, a shot that went 471 feet, against the Marlins on Tuesday. It was the longest home run hit by a Rays player since the beginning of Statcast tracking in 2015. Garcia was brought in for his power, but has also put up a solid .296/.358/.519 slash in 135 at-bats. He has scored 20 runs and driven in 17 with three stolen bases. At such a low ownership of 12 percent in Yahoo leagues, he could be a cheap source of power and counting stats in deeper leagues. If this continues his ownership will surely rise, and there is nothing pointing to a decline in his stats considering he hits the ball very hard very often. Keep him on your watch list for now.
