Avisail Garcia Isn't Starting On Thursday
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Avisail Garcia (hand) isn't in the team's lineup on Thursday. Garcia left Wednesday's game with a bruised hand and isn't starting today's contest against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Per a tweet from MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said Garcia and first baseman Rowdy Tellez "could probably play today if necessary, but it makes sense to give them a day." McCalvy also mentioned in his tweet that the injury isn't serious. Garcia has provided both the Brewers and fantasy managers with some solid production at the plate this season, batting .266 with a .330 on-base percentage, 20 home runs, and six stolen bases in 394 plate appearances. Jace Peterson is starting in right field for Garcia and could be worth a look for fantasy managers in deeper leagues as a streaming option. In 173 plate appearances this season, the 31-year-old is batting .239 with a .364 on-base percentage, four home runs, and seven stolen bases.
