6 years agoChicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia (knee) and catcher Kevan Smith (ankle) both had successful offseason surgeries. Both surgeries weren't believed to be very serious, so both Garcia and Smith should be fully recovered in time for spring training in 2019. Garcia was a big disappointment after being an All-Star in 2016, hitting .236/.281/.438 with a career-high 19 homers and 49 RBI in 93 games. His counting stats were predictably down on a rebuilding club, but there is bounce-back potential in 2019. Smith hit .292/.348/.380 with three homers and 21 RBI in 52 games and is a backup catcher in the organization.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
