Back Puts Max Scherzer on IL
5 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer was placed on the injured list Saturday, retroactive to July 10, with a mid-back strain. Catcher Spencer Kieboom was called up to take his place. There is no word yet on how long Scherzer may be out, but this is not good news after he had his next start pushed from Sunday to Tuesday to now July 21 at the very earliest. This one obviously stings for everyone involved -- Scherzer, Nationals, fantasy owners. Still, Scherzer is an easy stash over any other injured player you might have on your roster, given that he may not be out long plus he's the best pitcher in baseball.
