Bad Sixth Inning Dooms Cole Irvin At Texas
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Cole Irvin allowed three runs in five innings to take the loss and drop his record to 6-8 heading into the All-Star break. Irvin was cruising in this game as he had a shutout going through five innings. He was allowed to start the sixth, however, and the wheels came off as he allowed three runs and was removed without recording an out in the inning. While that may have soured his pitching line in this game, the former Phillie had a quality first half for Oakland. Irvin has a very solid 3.35 ERA and 1.18 WHIP, though he lags in the strikeout department which holds him back in fantasy. Irvin has just a 17 percent K-rate making him more of a matchup-dependent streamer in most fantasy leagues.
