7 years agoAfter impressing during Senior Bowl practices this week, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is squarely in play for the Cleveland Browns at the top overall pick in this year's draft. Mayfield's skills on the field have left many to think that the Browns will have a debate between Mayfield and USC quarterback Sam Darnold with the No. 1 overall pick. “A lot of what he is as a player fits with the mentality of [Cleveland Brown’s general manager] John Dorsey,” one source said. “Just his mental makeup as a player, John believes in building around those kinds of guys. … I think he’s a strong candidate [for the top pick] after this week.” Mayfield is a raw athlete that has a competitive mentality and often generates big plays on broken plays after the snap. In a negative light, he's been compared to Johnny Manziel because of his off-field incidents, but Mayfield's strong Senior Bowl practices have boosted his stock going into the draft.
