Baltimore Eyes DJ Stewart Return Next Week
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder DJ Stewart (hamstring) is reportedly improving in his quest to return to action due to a hamstring ailment. Manager Brandon Hyde anticipates having Stewart ready for Opening Day, with the expectation being that Stewart could rejoin the Grapefruit League lineup at some point next week. Stewart is likely to fill the role of fourth outfielder for Baltimore to begin the season with the trio of Austin Hays, Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander all near locks to hold down OF spots come April 1. Stewart showed sizable pop during 2020, slugging seven homers across 31 games, delivering a .455 SLG, even while scuffling in the BA (.193) department. The crowded nature of the Orioles' outfield leaves Stewart on the outside looking in of most season-long Drafts, but he could be an appealing upside DFS target when starting should his hamstring prove healthy.
