Bartolo Colon Released by Rangers
7 years agoThe Texas Rangers released starting pitcher Bartolo Colon from his minor league contract. The 44-year old pitched reasonably well this spring, putting up a 3.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts and a .257 batting average against over 18 innings. It appears that the Rangers may try to work out a deal with Colon, but even if that falls through it is likely the veteran will find a job somewhere. The veteran showed the same skills that made him a surprisingly effective streaming option in 2016, but last season could lead one to wonder if his career should finally come to a close. He will not be drafted, but it would not be a shock if he finds a job and returns to his low ceiling, innings eating ways.
