Bengals Release Brandon Allen
2 years agoThe Cincinnati Bengals released veteran quarterback Brandon Allen and veteran safety Michael J. Thomas and waived running back Trayveon Williams on Wednesday after claiming three players off waivers. There's a strong possibility that Allen will return to the team's roster, since they currently have no backup behind starter Joe Burrow. The 29-year-old signal-caller was originally a sixth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016 out of the University of Arkansas. In 14 career games (nine starts) with the Denver Broncos and Bengals, Allen has gone 146-for-260 (56.2 completion percentage) for 1,589 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He's started six games for the Bengals the last two seasons.
