7 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds will open the 2018 season with speedy outfielder Billy Hamilton batting leadoff. Hamilton held down the spot for most of the 2017 season as well, although his low batting average of .247 and on-base percentage of .299 does not make him an ideal candidate for the top of the lineup. Despite those low marks, Reds manager Bryan Price told reporters that he plans on having Hamilton hitting atop the lineup when the season opens, but he would not commit to Hamilton always being there. Hamilton's fantasy owners would certainly prefer to see him batting leadoff, as that would offer him extra base-stealing chances over the course of the season. How well Hamilton hits in 2018 will definitely play into how long he's able to hang onto the leadoff role this upcoming season.--Matt T - RotoBaller
