Blake Bortles Protects The Rock And The Jaguars Advance
7 years agoJacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles completed 14 of 26 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown pass in the Jaguars 45-42 playoff win against the Steelers. The stat that may go unnoticed after this dramatic victory would be his total turnovers -- zero. Bortles handed the ball off to rookie standout Leonard Fournette most of the game but made some clutch throws and used his legs to gain 35 rushing yards. He found wide receiver Keelan Cole downfield for a crucial 45-yard reception and then later hit fullback Tommy Bohanon with a perfect play-action pass for a 14-yard touchdown that pretty much sealed the Steelers fate. The Jaguars defense is an elite unit that again generated points, and Bortles protected the football, consistently converting in the red zone. Bortles will face the test of his career next week against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
