7 years agoAccording to Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston, Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has stated that Sandy Leon and Christian Vazquez are his catchers. This news means that Blake Swihart has lost another opportunity to win a starting position. Through process of positional elimination, Swihart will be relegated to a utility role. Thus far in spring training, most of Swihart's repetitions have been at catcher, which makes it more difficult for him to increase his versatility. The recent plan for him was to start getting reps at more positions in the coming weeks. Whether he is increasing his versatility for the Red Sox or increasing his trade value has yet to be determined.--Ellis Canady - RotoBaller
