6 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks added catcher/utility player Blake Swihart to the 40-man roster on Monday, as he officially reported to the team after his weekend trade from the Boston Red Sox. The BoSox acquired international trade pool money, as well as minor-league outfielder Marcus Wilson. The Diamondbacks also optioned RHP Jimmie Sherfy to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Swihart will be used in a utility role, according to general manager Mike Hazen. All NL-only fantasy owners need to drop a little FAAB money on Swihart, and he isn't a bad option in some mixed leagues, either, if manager Torey Lovullo can find regular playing time for him.--Daniel Dobish
