2 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays selected American Heritage High School left-hander Brandon Barriera with the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft on Sunday. Barriera hails from the same high school that produced big-leaguers Eric Hosmer and Deven Marrero, among others. He entered the draft as one of the top left-handed arms in this class and already possesses three above-average pitches. The 18-year-old's fastball can get up to 96 mph and he complements it with a low-80s slider and a great changeup. Barriera has excellent control for a young pitcher and boasts a very repeatable delivery given his athleticism.
