Blue Jays Outright Darnell Sweeney To Triple-A
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays utility player Darnell Sweeney has been outrighted by the Blue Jays to Triple-A Buffalo. By doing so, Sweeney is now off the team’s 50-man roster. He had been previously been optioned on Monday. Originally called up on June 29 to provide depth after the Jays traded outfielder Steve Pearce to the Boston Red Sox, Sweeney did not receive any at-bats in this Major League stint. He has 98 career plate appearances playing both the infield and outfield, all coming for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015, and he slashed .176/.286/.353 with three home runs. He’ll continue to provide minor league depth for Toronto, but clearly the chances are there won’t ever be any fantasy value here.
