4 years agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Bobby Dalbec is showing signs of breaking out of a season-opening slump. Dalbec has collected three extra-base hits in the last two games after having none in his first six games, raising his slugging percentage from .095 to .286 over that span. Even more encouraging has been his visible change in approach. After looking overmatched swinging for the fences earlier in the season, Dalbec has been taking what the pitcher has been giving him. This was most clear on Tuesday, when he smoked two doubles the other way down the right field line. Fantasy managers may be disappointed with the lack of home runs, but Dalbec's overall value is much higher with this improved approach.--Daniel Fox
