Bobby Dalbec To See Work At 2B, Outfield
3 years agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Bobby Dalbec will get repetitions at second base and in the outfield this spring, according to manager Alex Cora. It will give Dalbec some more versatility in Boston, but he's still expected to see most of his time at first base in 2022 for the Red Sox. The 26-year-old finished with a .240/.298/.494 slash line with 25 home runs, 78 RBI and 50 runs scored in 453 plate appearances over 133 games in his second MLB season and first full season in the majors in 2021. Dalbec has elite power (20.2% barrel rate and 115.6 mph maximum exit velocity), but unless he cuts down on his strikeouts, he won't provide much batting average assistance as a fantasy asset. But there's still a lot to like about Dalbec at a cheap cost on draft day.
