Bobby Witt Jr. Remains Out Friday
2 years agoKansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) is still out of the starting lineup on Friday against the New York Yankees. Witt will miss his fifth straight game with a hamstring injury, but he's expected to avoid a trip to the injured list. If the 22-year-old can't return at some point this weekend, that could change quickly. It remains to be seen if he'll be available off the bench on Friday. Shortstop prospect Maikel Garcia was called up from the minors this week and started in his first MLB game on Thursday, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Garcia has struck out twice in his first five plate appearances. With Witt out again, he's starting at the 6 and hitting eighth against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole on Friday.
