However, neither player is expecting to reach an agreement before Opening Day this week, and neither Devers nor Bogaerts want to discuss contracts during the regular season. Devers can become a free agent after the 2023 season, while Bogaerts has an opt-out clause in his contract after this year that he seems likely to exercise. The combination of Devers and Bogaerts on the left side of Boston's infield is an elite combo, but the pairing could be in their final season in 2022.
