Brad Brach Doing More Cardio Heading Into 2018 Season
7 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Brad Brach is changing his offseason workout routine to include more long-distance running in order to remain more effective deep into the season. With closer Zach Britton (Achilles) not expected to be ready until around midseason, Brach is expected to begin the year as Baltimore's primary closer. In the last two years, Brach has started out very strong only to fade in the second half. Last year, he had a 2.58 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in the first half before posting a 3.94 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in the second half. He's also one of just 18 pitchers to log 200 or more innings over the last three seasons, and he pitched 68 frames in 2017. Brach also has more incentive to pitch well throughout the year in 2018, as he'll begin the year as the ninth-inning man. Because of that, his fantasy value will be as high as ever entering the season.
