7 years agoSan Diego Padres closer Brad Hand suffered a blown save Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics. Hand gave up a two-out solo home run to A's outfielder Stephen Piscotty to tie the game and the Padres eventually lost in the 10th inning. Tuesday's speedbump marked Hand's second consecutive rough outing. He also surrendered two earned runs on Sunday in a non-save appearance. The blown save was Hand's third of the season and his ERA jumps to 2.43. He still holds an excellent 0.97 WHIP and 13.1 K/9. With 21 saves, Hand remains one of baseball's more reliable closers. Although his job isn't legitimately in jeopardy, Tuesday's struggles could convince manager Andy Green to utilize reliever Kirby Yates in more ninth-inning situations as he's done sporadically this season.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
