6 years agoSan Diego Padres closer Brad Hand suffered a blown save and loss Sunday against the San Francisco Giants, giving up a two-run walk-off double in the bottom of the 11th inning. Hand came on with a one run lead and retired the first batter before loading the bases ahead of the game-winner by Giants outfielder Hunter Pence. The outing is Hand's third rough outing and second blown save since June 17. His ERA has ballooned from 1.78 to 2.82. With 21 saves and a 13.1 K/9, Hand had emerged as a stalwart closer this season but his recent struggles are concerning. There's also speculation that Hand is a highly valued asset in the trade market. The Padres and fantasy owners both should hope this swoon is more a blip than trend.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
