4 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller was named the Opening Day starter on Saturday, according to Lynn Worthy of the Kansas City Star. It will be Keller's second time as the Opening Day starter, as he comes off a 2020 campaign that saw him post a career-low 16.3 percent strikeout rate, and career-bests with a 7.9 percent walk rate and 2.47 ERA in 54 2/3 innings. Keller will take the mound against the Texas Rangers, having faced them twice in his career where he allowed four runs in nine innings with six strikeouts. He has not looked good this spring however, as he has allowed eight runs — six earned — with seven walks and six strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings. For now, managers should likely avoid starting him in this matchup.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
