Brad Miller Expected To Play First Base
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said the plan for now is for infielder Brad Miller to play first base, with Micah Johnson, Daniel Robertson, Ryan Schimpf and Joey Wendle battling for the second base duties. Miller is also a candidate to start at the keystone if the Rays add a first baseman before the season. Miller shocked everyone by slugging 30 homers in 2016, but he was a massive fantasy disappointment last season and played in just 110 games due to injury while posting a career-low .337 slugging percentage with a terrible .201 average. Injuries may have been mostly to blame, but Miller also lost shortstop eligibility, meaning he'll mainly be attractive for middle infield depth at second base in AL-only leagues in 2018.
