The Vancouver Canucks bought out the final year of Braden Holtby's contract on Tuesday. His contract would have been a $4.3 million cap hit for the Canucks. He will become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday. Holtby had a rough year in his only season in Vancouver after signing a two-year contract. The veteran netminder had a record of 7-11-3 in 2021. In addition, he had a dismal .889 save percentage while carrying a 3.67 goals-against-average. His play in Vancouver, while most likely result in him being in a backup role next season, dropping his value in fantasy hockey come fall.
