Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford Sit Friday Versus Lefty
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt and shortstop Brandon Crawford are both out of the lineup for Friday’s contest versus Texas left-hander Mike Minor. Belt was welcomed into the fold for the first time Thursday night, going 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts, but managed to walk three times. Crawford has gone 4-for-20 to begin the year without an extra-base hit or walk. Giants manager Gabe Kapler has continuously noted that he plans to platoon heavily in 2020, with Wilmer Flores playing first and batting second Friday, as Mauricio Dubon shifts over to shortstop. Belt and Crawford have been cornerstones of the San Francisco lineup for most of the past decade, but it’s evident that their everyday role has changed as of this season.
