Brandon Belt Logs Batting Practice Session Friday
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (heel, illness) got back into the swing of spring camp Friday, taking batting practice on the field. Belt has yet to appear in a Cactus League contest as he attempts to ramp up in time for Opening Day. The left-handed hitter is coming off a career year in 2020 in which he slashed .309/.425/.591, amassing a whopping 178 OPS+. With 50 percent of his hits going for extra bases, Belt's offensive turnaround may be difficult to replicate, even as he heads into a contract year. Should he not be cleared in time for April 1, Tommy La Stella would figure to hold down first-base duties. Check back for updates on Belt's status as they become available.
