Brandon Belt Placed On Injured List, Could Face Surgery
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday with right knee inflammation, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. This move was expected, as it had been announced previously that Belt would likely be facing a stint on the injured list after suffering an injury while attempting to score in the eighth inning of Wednesday's game. However now Slusser reports that manager Gabe Kapler said there is concern that Belt might need to undergo surgery to correct the issue. Belt had decent numbers this season, where he was slashing .253/.363/.512 with 11 homers, three steals, 28 RBI and 30 runs scored over 55 games prior to the injury. But with it sounding like Belt could miss significant time, managers in shallower leagues may want to just consider dropping him at this point.
