Brandon Crawford Being Brought Along Slowly In Camp
6 years agoSan Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford is being brought along slowly during the early part of camp, and it doesn't sound like he'll be playing defense in Cactus League spring games for a while. He was the designated hitter in Sunday's spring game against the Chicago Cubs. The team is working to preserve his arm for the regular season, and Crawford reported feeling fine. He added that he doesn't need four weeks on defense to prepare for the season. Crawford has settled into the .250-.255 neighborhood, and he bats at the bottom of manager Bruce Bochy's lineup. He still has staying power in NL-only fantasy play for his occasional pop, but mixed leaguers will only want him as a desperation option.
