6 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (pinkie) returned to the lineup on Wednesday after not starting for two games, and while it wasn’t a productive return, his health was all that mattered. Nimmo finished 0-for-4 in the 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, striking out three times. Considering gripping the bat was an issue for Nimmo prior to Wednesday, he could need a few days to get going again. He avoided “significant injury” to his right pinkie finger after getting hit by a pitch on Sunday, but one would have to imagine there will be some lingering pain and soreness. Don’t panic if Nimmo struggles for a few days.--John Smith
