4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo reached base three times on three walks in the Mets' 8-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. Nimmo, showcasing his on-base-percentage skillset, went 0-for-2 with the three walks, an RBI, and scored one run in the contest. After batting eighth in the season opener, Nimmo showed just why his bat is better suited at the top of the lineup as a place setter for Francisco Lindor, Michael Conforto, and Pete Alonso. Notwithstanding the oddity of the Opening Day lineup, Tuesday's performance bodes well for the possibility of Nimmo batting leadoff all season for a much improved, potent Mets lineup. If Nimmo can cement himself as the starting centerfielder batting leadoff, he will have a tremendous opportunity to put up huge run totals in a loaded lineup, given his excellent on-base skillset. This will, in turn, be a huge boost to the potential RBI totals of Lindor, Conforto, and Alonso.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
