Brandon Nimmo's Return Could Be Pushed Back
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (finger), currently on the 10-day injured list with a left index finger contusion, felt pain in his final at-bat on Thursday during a rehab assignment with Triple-A affiliate Syracuse. Manager Luis Rojas stated that Nimmo will not start on Friday or Saturday for the Mets' Triple-A affiliate. Nimmo was initially eligible to come off the IL on Friday, May 14. With this news, it appears Nimmo's return may be pushed back now until sometime mid-to-late next week before the Mets head to Miami to face the Marlins on Friday, May 21. With outfielder Kevin Pillar red hot at the plate, the Mets will not rush Nimmo back, especially considering the fact that he is still experiencing pain. Once he returns, as the Mets' leadoff hitter, Nimmo should continue to perform as a top-tier place setter with a solid batting average and an elite OBP for fantasy managers. In the interim, fantasy managers who were anticipating an imminent return for Nimmo should make other arrangements.
