Brandon Nimmo Was Turning Heads In Spring Training
5 years agoBefore MLB spring training was suspended, New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo had reportedly been turning scouts' heads based on his performance. Over 11 Grapefruit League games, Nimmo put up an impressive slash line of .379/.455/.552 in 29 at-bats. Following a strong 2018 campaign, a neck injury limited Nimmo to just 69 games in 2019. In 2019, he hit just .221, with decreases in other measurables. Heading into 2020, Nimmo is part of a crowded Mets outfield. This may result in a platoon role for him, especially if Yoenis Cespedes (ankle, heels) remains healthy. That said, an impressive start to the season that builds off of his spring success, combined with Michael Conforto's oblique injury, could mean regular playing time for Nimmo in the early part of 2020. As a result, Nimmo, who appears to be over last season's neck injury, remains worth a draft selection in deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats at his current ADP of 368. Nimmo could return tremendous value if he gets regular playing time batting at the top of the Mets' potent lineup.
