2 years agoBoston Red Sox skipper Alex Cora said that pitching prospect Brayan Bello is an option to start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Bello is the team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he might be making his MLB debut this week. The 23-year-old right-hander has rocketed up the farm system this year, first going 4-2 with a 1.60 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 42 strikeouts and 12 walks in 33 2/3 innings over six starts for Double-A Portland. In nine outings (eight starts) for Triple-A Worcester, he's gone 6-2 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 72 K's and 21 walks in 51 1/3 innings. Bello's fastball has improved and now sits in the mid- to upper-90s, and he generates plenty of weak contact and swings and misses with three quality pitches.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
