Brayan Bello Likely To Start Sunday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox top pitching prospect Brayan Bello, who was recalled from the minors on Friday, is the leading candidate to start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Bello struggled in his first two major league starts, allowing nine earned runs on 13 hits while walking six and striking out seven in eight innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 23-year-old Dominican right-hander has been much better between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester in the minors, though, posting a 2.35 ERA in 16 outings (15 starts) with 118 strikeouts and 34 walks in 88 innings pitched. The team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is worth picking up in deeper leagues if he sticks in Boston's rotation, but he'll be a shaky streamer in just his third MLB start Sunday.
