Brendan McKay Strikes Out Seven Batters On Saturday
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays first base/starting pitcher prospect Brendan McKay struck out a career-high seven batters for Class A Bowling Green Saturday night. McKay went four innings and allowed just two hits. McKay was draft with the fourth overall pick in 2017 and excelled as both a pitcher and hitter thus far for the Rays. On the mound, he has 15 strikeouts and has allowed just one walk in three outings over nine innings. McKay has also hit .346 with ten RBI in his first 39 at-bats. McKay has yet to identify himself at one position but is making a strong case early in his young career to get a shot at doing both. The number 25 prospect is still a ways away from making it to the big leagues but shows serious potential. He is worth monitoring in dynasty leagues.
