Brendan Rodgers Injures Hamstring While Stealing Second
4 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers injured his hamstring while attempting to steal second base in the fifth inning of Saturday's Cactus League game vs. the Mariners. Rodgers was 1-for-2 with an RBI single for exiting the game. He stopped short and starting limping before dropping to the ground as he approached second base. He was able to walk off on his own and it appears, at least initially, that a serious injury has been avoided. Outfielder Chris Owings shifted down to second base to replace Rodgers while outfielder Jameson Hannah moved to centerfield and took his spot in the batting order. We should learn more about the injury in manager Bud Black's press conference but consider Rodgers day-to-day for now. Garrett Hampson, who's primarily played in the outfield in Cactus League play, will likely shift down to second base for as long as Rodgers is out.
