Brennen Davis Begins Rehab Assignment
2 years agoChicago Cubs outfield prospect Brennen Davis (back) began his rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Monday and went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and three strikeouts while serving as the designated hitter. It wasn't a great first game back, but the 22-year-old was playing in his first game since May 3 after undergoing back surgery in early June. The Cubs will be cautious with their top overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he should eventually be returned to Triple-A Iowa when the Cubs feel he's ready. In 22 games for Iowa before his injury earlier this year, Davis was hitting only .195 (15-for-77) with two home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored. He's unlikely to make his major league debut in 2022, but Davis should already be on the radar in dynasty/keeper leagues because of his intriguing blend of power and speed.
