Brett Baty's Stock On The Rise At High-A

3 years agoNew York Mets prospect Brett Baty raised his batting average to .343 with a 3-for-4 game on Wednesday. The 21-year-old third baseman also slugged his first home run of the season. The lack of power has been a surprise for the former first-round pick as he entered pro ball with a reputation for having impressive raw strength and he also hit seven home runs in his 51-game pro debut in 2019. Still, Baty is showing a much improved hitting approach despite the lost season in 2020 and he has a 16% walk rate. That has helped him produce a .451 OBP through 19 games. The power stroke will come and fantasy managers should be encouraged by his strong showing so far this season.
