3 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Brett Phillips went 2-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, and a strikeout in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles. He took Orioles reliever Cole Sulsler deep in the seventh inning to trim Baltimore's lead 5-3. The 27-year-old later belted the go-ahead grand slam off Paul Frye to left-center field to give the Rays a 9-5 lead in the eighth frame. It was his eighth long ball and first multi-homer game of the season. Phillips doesn't play every day but has been swinging a hot bat since the All-Star break, slashing .265/.306/.706 with a double, a triple, four home runs, 11 RBI, 10 runs, and a stolen base over 36 plate appearances. The player known as "Maverick" is a speculative add in deep-league and AL-only formats.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
