Brewers Acquire Jordan Lyles for Second Straight Year
5 years agoInitially scheduled to start in Cincinnati on Monday night, Jordan Lyles was instead traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for 25-year-old minor league reliever Cody Ponce, a 2015 second-round draft pick for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lyles is likely to slot into the Brewer's rotation, as starters Brandon Woodruff, Jimmy Nelson, and Jhoulys Chacin are all currently injured. Seemingly on the verge of a breakout earlier in the season, Lyles started his first eight games with a 1.97 ERA and 9.36 K/9. But he's since crashed back to earth with Lyles most recently giving up 20 earned runs in his last 11 innings. It's unknown when he'll make his first start for the Brewers but Lyles remains a match-up dependant streamer until he proves otherwise.
