3 years agoThe New England Patriots have released quarterback Brian Hoyer. New England surprisingly waived incumbent starter QB Cam Newton earlier on Tuesday and ultimately decided to release Hoyer as well. The veteran QB was slated to become the backup to first-round rookie Mac Jones. According to sources, Hoyer is expected to re-sign with the Patriots within the next few days as the transaction by the Patriots was made on Tuesday for roster flexibility. New England will roll with Mac Jones and Jarrett Stidham (shoulder) at quarterback until Hoyer returns.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
