Brian McCann Gets The Start Tuesday
7 years agoHouston Astros catcher Brian McCann will get the start behind the plate against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. McCann will catch for starter Charlie Morton, and this is only McCann's second start since last Wednesday. The veteran backstop has really been scuffling at the plate lately and is 6-for-43 (.139) since May 23. The 13-year veteran is on pace for his worst season as a pro and is currently slashing only .215/.296/.340 through 144 at-bats this season. He is having difficulty catching up to fastballs and appears to be on the downside of a very solid career. McCann certainly brings leadership to the clubhouse and the occasional power from the catching position, but he is no longer a viable fantasy option. He began the season in a timeshare with catcher Max Stassi, but expect McCann's chances to continue to dwindle as the season presses on.
